Make-up for Beginner

I started to wear & buy makeup when i was in high school. Benetint from benefit was my first purchase (then everything else follows..). Sejujurnya pertama aku beli juga bukan karena butuh/ pingin dandan, tapi karena packagingnya lucu banget aja hehehe. Dulu pas SD aku sempet belajar & dibeliin make-up sih sama mama, tapi bukan yang untuk natural make-up gitu, make up buat nari karena dulu aku ikut traditional dance festival di Taiwan & Turkey (kelas 4 & 6 SD). Jadi mau nggak mau harus belajar sendiri karena disana kan untuk perform nggak ada yang make-up in.. Tapi berhubung masih kecil dan gak tertarik untuk belajar makeup diluar makeup nari, jadi aku baru tertariknya awal2 SMA. Aku inget banget dulu pas baru masuk SMA 6 tuh temen2 pada pake bedak, pake liptint.. terus aku ikut2an jadi mulai beli bedak pigeon haha! (masih sering aku pakai sampai sekarang). Semenjak itu baru aku mulai suka browsing2 nyaritau ttg makeup, product apa yang bagus, cara pakainya gimana, dll.

I know that when i started to wear makeup, i was so overwhelmed by everything and didn't know where to start. Here I'm gonna show you my personal product recommendations & tips, perhaps can be a guideline for you and hopefully you don't have to have as many "trial and errors" as i did! 

Face

First thing first, prep your skin before makeup. Pakai your usual skin routine, seperti serum, moisturizer dan sunblock. Diemin sampai meresap dulu ke kulit.. Baru deh pakai makeup. Oh and don't forget to wash your hands!

I like makeup that brightens up my complexion but still looks natural and polished. If you're new to makeup, you should keep your face relatively simple. Cari yang cocok sama jenis kulit km, apa itu berminyak, kombinasi, kering, atau sensitive. Saranku sih stay away from Foundation dulu.. karena takutnya salah-salah pilih warna dan jenis malah jadi kayak pakai topeng :-(. Lagi pula kalau untuk hari-hari kayanya foundation terlalu berat.. I would recommend starting with a mineral powder/ bb cream. A BB cream will help even out your complexion and give you a light to medium coverage. Yang paling penting: warnanya HARUS bener-bener match sama kulit kamu, jangan terlalu gelap atau terlalu terang. Lalu BB cream biasanya ngikutin warna kulit wajah kamu, so you're a lot less likely to pick the wrong shade.

1. Loreal True match BB Cream (Shade Gold)

Aku suka bb cream ini karena warnanya pas, gak tebel sama sekali, ringan jadi pas dipakai rasanya kayak pelembab aja tapi ngeratain warna kulit. untuk yg kulitnya kering pasti akan cocokk banget. packagingnya simple & compact jadi gampang dibawa kemana-mana.

2. Maybelline White Super Fresh UV Cake Powder

This powder blends well with my skin, hides imperfections, contains SPF 34 PA +++ UV Protection, looks natural & stay a long time on me. Harganya juga murah bgt dan gampang ditemuin dimana2. If you have an oily skin, you will like this!

Aku biasanya untuk daily pakai bedak ini di bagian yang dibutuhkan atau agak kemerahan aja (pipi, sekitar hidung), sisanya pakai yang translucent

3. Rimmel Stay Matte

Ini bedak yang paling sering aku pakai. Shadenya Transparant jadi nggak ada warnanya, nggak ada coveragenya, cuma biar matte dan ga berminyak aja. I love how it doesn't give me that cakey look. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the packaging. The plastic cover doesn't stay on too well. Kick Ass by Soap & Glory. menurut aku isinya sama aja kayak rimmel stay matte, cuma packagingnya jauhh lebih lucu & bagus, plus ada kaca-nya.

Untuk aplikasi bedaknya, aku nggak pernah pakai sponge yang dikasih.. Tapi pakai brush. Alasannya karena kalau pakai sponge kadang suka ketebelan, jadi menor.. kayak "pake bedak banget" gitu.. Kalau pakai brush hasilnya lebih natural karena product yg di apply lebih sedikit & sheer. Brushnya antara Real techniques buffing brush atau Sigma Large Powder F30 brush. Sebenernya apa aja kok ngga harus itu, any fluffy big brush will do the job!

Quick tip: to keep your face looking fresh, bawa blotting paper kemana2! atau kalau lupa bawa pakai tissue aja, di tepuk pelan-pelan ke daerah yang berminyak. tapi jangan di lap dengan kencang gitu yaa.. 

Dari produk2 diatas yang aku sebutin, memang nggak ada yang bener-bener high coverage atau bisa bikin kulit muka kamu keliatan flawless banget pas lagi jerawatan. Because i want your skin to look like skin, only better. Kulit kita harus tetap bisa bernafas, especially for daily use. Jerawat one or two every two weeks karena mau dapet gakpapa lah kelihatan dikitt.. wajar kok :-D Kecuali untuk acara-acara tertentu yang kamu pingin kelihatan flawless.. Baru deh pakai concealer, atau bahkan foundation

Blush

Blush can really brighten your appearance and make you glow. I could talk about blushes for hoouuurrsss... blush on is my weakness after lipsticks <3

Pakai blush sebenernya susah-susah gampang menurut aku. Yang penting pakainya sedikit-sedikit dulu. Because you can always add more, but its harder to remove once you've applied too much. Just lightly swipe blush on the apple of your cheek in a circular motion. Jangan garis lurus depan kebelakang gitu. Dan jangan sampai terlalu kedepan sampai dekat hidung (tips dari mas Yoga Septa)

I personally like cream blush a little more than a powder blush. they look more natural & you can also use it on the lips. i love multifunction products!

Those are my Top 4 cream blushes. My most favourite one is the Nyx Cream blush in Natural (no 1 in the picture). and i apply it with either my finger, or the real techniques stippling brush. Its easy to blend, gives the most natural flush to the cheeks and lasts a long time, perfect for everyday use. Love love love this cream blush!

Quick tip: Press a blotting paper against your cheeks after you apply a cream blush to absorb any excess oil. Supaya cream blush-nya tahan lebih lama. This extra step makes a huge different!

If you're a beginner and confused with all the colours, a rosy pink or mauve blush is a save colour to pick because it looks good on everyone. You can't go wrong with a rosy cheeks. 

Those are some of the best powder blushes I've found. 

1. First of all, i love all the blushes from benefit, but Dandelion.. Hands down my favourite blush for everyday use. i love this blush so much that if i had to pick one blush for the rest of my life, it would be this one. This blush gives you the perfect amount of colour, and the most natural flush to the cheeks. Blush yg kalau kamu pakai, bisa bikin orang mikir "ini orang pakai makeup apa kulitnya emang gitu ya? fresh bgt" hahaha! but really, this blush is gonna make you look fresh & glowing. Karena warnanya yang soft jadi mau pakai lipstick/ eyeshadow warna apapun juga akan cocok-cocok aja. Ive gone through 2 boxes of this blush.. Jadi sekarang lagi pakai blush dandelion yang ke 3! padahal aku punya byk blush lain cuma emang ini yang paling sering dipakai. Kadang walaupun lagi pakai warna lain pun, suka aku timpa sama ini. This blush comes with a brush and a mirror, so its easy for you to carry around. Another thing i love about benefit blushes is the smell. They all smell really good! 

Oh tapii aku saranin sebelum beli kamu coba dulu, karena blush ini nggak begitu kelihatan di kulit yang gelap. It is most suitable for those with fair - medium skin tone..

2. Aku recommend NYX blush karena range warnanya yang banyak, harganya affordable, & staying powernya baguss. Cocok untuk yang pingin nyoba pakai blush, tapi belum mau beli yg seharga Benefit, Bobbi Brown atau Nars. My favorite is 'Pinched', its a lovely peachy colour with a golden sheen. The colour looks great on everyone, especially on asian skin tones!

Untuk aplikasi powder blush, biasanya aku pakai antara Large Angled Contour F40 brush from Sigma, Ecotools Blush Brush, atau Chanel Blush Brush (from the 6 essential brushes set) karena kecil jd selalu kubawa di make-up pouch. Remember to always apply little by little, jangan langsung kebanyakan product-nya, selain mubazir, nanti jadi keliatan kayak badut! hihi gamau kaaan :-P
